Manjak lounge chair and Arkad side table from the Nkyinkyim collection by Armando Cabral × USM
USM and designer/supermodel Armando Cabral present a visionary collection titled Nkyinkyim, reinterpreting the USM Haller modular furniture system through the lens of Armando's African heritage. Contemporary design combines with cultural influences to create a sophisticated and functional collection that elevates the USM aesthetic to a new level.

The Nkyinkyim Collection: African Inspiration Meets Modular Design
The beautiful collection of custom-made USM Haller creations, presented at the USM showroom in New York during New York Fashion Week, includes a bookcase, an asymmetrical platform bed, a lounge chair, a side table, and a wardrobe. The collection's title is derived from the Adinkra symbol Nkyinkyim, which represents progress and challenge for the Akan people of Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. Cabral sees parallels here with USM, whose system offers users maximum design freedom. "The USM modular furniture system, with its individual components that work together to form harmonious, functional structures, reflects the essence of Nkyinkyim," he explains.

Armando Cabral
Cabral was born in Guinea-Bissau on the west coast of Africa before moving to Portugal as a child. He studied business administration at London Metropolitan University and worked as a model for Louis Vuitton, Balmain, and Dries Van Noten. His own brand, Armando Cabral, is primarily known for Italian men's shoes, but also develops shirts and perfume. In 2022 Cabral opened his first store in New York's Rockefeller Center and has now expanded his focus to the home sector with the sub-brand Armando Cabral A Casa.
