Tove Kindt-Larsen was one of the first female designers to establish herself in the male-dominated Danish design world in the middle of the 20th century. Even if she is best known today for working with her husband Edvard Kindt-Larsen, her own influence should not be underestimated.

The Danish furniture manufacturer Gubi recently acquired rights to furniture designs from Tove Kindt-Larsen created before the collaboration with her husband, and with their posthumous re-edition ensures Kindt-Larsen receives the recognition as an individual artist she is entitled to.

Tove Kindt-Larsen worked for the architect Thyge Hvass from 1931 and made a name for herself as a furniture designer at an early age. Before her marriage she received first prize from the furniture maker guild and third prize from the Danish reed guild for her wicker furniture. Her work testifies to a special sensitivity for quality, materials and the taste of her time. Tove Kindt-Larsen is also considered a pioneer in the field of wicker furniture and the use of bent plywood.
