Brief
E-learning, or EdTech, is a major topic in Germany; a concept expressed from game apps for little ones, to tutoring applications, and learning concepts in the B2B sector where managers and company employees can connect with coaches via EdTech. When a Berlin EdTech startup was seeking to set up its non-virtual space reflecting the essence of the company, and also to incorporate its virtual portfolio into the appearance of its office and project rooms, smow Berlin was not only geographically close.
The Berlin EdTech startup had clear ideas and high standards for the furnishing of its new office. The challenge for smow was to recommend products that had both high user value and outstanding design. Comprehensive advice on fabrics and surfaces was also required. smow took over the delivery, coordination and assembly of the furniture to ensure that all components fit together smoothly and were delivered on time.
Project Management
Realisation
The freshly renovated area of the historic Admiralspalast, an impressive space in its own right, in the middle of the German capital provided an ideal and inspiring basis. The planning of the area was undertaken by the renowned architectural firm Kinzo, who from the beginning set high expectations for the design and functionality of the furnishings.
One of the biggest challenges in the project was to meet the architects' high design standards while at the same time sticking to the client's specified budget. When designing the rooms, it was obvious to also take the historical conditions afforded by the Admiralspalast into account and to coordinate the structure and colour concept with them.
The Social Hub, Open Space and Focus Areas were planned and brought to life with furniture recommended by smow Berlin. This required a careful selection of products and manufacturers that met the desired quality and design standards. With a lot of flexibility and creativity, with special paint finishes and special fabrics, the individual ideas of the client and the architectural practice were fulfilled.
Vitra, Muuto, Hay, Cor and &Tradition were the preferred brands, including the creation of special custom-made pieces. The carpentry work carried out by Konrad Müller and hp Tischlerei Berlin also deserves special mention as it perfectly rounds off the overall concept.
Project Synopsis
In a constantly evolving working world, e-learning is playing an increasingly important role. For smow Berlin, it was crucial not only to create an inspiring physical working environment, but also to meet the development needs of employees. An environment was therefore developed that encourages creative work. The combination of physical and digital space makes the project particularly forward-looking and underlines smow's ability to offer integrated solutions.
Exceptional interior design within the given budget was the premise of this office project. A challenge smow met with a portfolio of high-quality products and manufacturers, with custom paint finishes and special fabrics. The design concept, which would also work in metropolises such as London, brings a touch of international flair to the heart of Berlin and creates an inspiring working environment.
