Design Story
The Vitra ES 106 Soft Pad Chaise by Charles and Ray Eames was designed in the late 1960s and belongs today to the Vitra design classics. The designers developed the soft pad lounger for the film director Billy Wilder, who wanted a piece of furniture for a rest during the film breaks. A deliberately narrow object, there is barely space to place the arms next to the body on the couch, the ES 106 only allows for a short, effective "Powernap" - and the subsequent new energy and revitalised creativity. Perfect for film set, office or home.
