Christina Strand and Niells Hvass both studied at the prestigious Danish Design School in Copenhagen. Working together as the Strand & Hvass Design Studio since 1998 and located in a spacious loft in the heart of Copenhagen, the pair's portfolio is multifaceted: in addition to experimental projects, Strand & Hvass also have enjoyed commercial successes with manufacturers such as Carl Hansen & Søn or Four Design. The innovative design process always includes an exact analysis of the market and the close cooperation with the manufacturers. Strand & Hvass understand design as a way to develop strategies to actively and sustainably improve the living conditions. To this end their furniture design is based on a simple form language firmly anchored in the tradition of Scandinavian design.
