Shin & Tomoko Azumi
Shin Azumi was born in 1965 in Kobe, his future wife Tomoko in 1966 in Hiroshima. Both Shin and Tomoko Azumi initially studied in Japan before moving on to the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. In 1995 they founded the Azumi Studio and devoted themselves jointly to furniture and product design; the outstanding result being the LEM Stool for the Italian manufacturer Lapalma, which in 2000 was awarded Product of the Year at the International Interior Design Awards. Several of the duo's projects are part of international design collections and can be viewed, for example, at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2005 the pair went their separate ways, personally and professionally: Shin Azumi founded A Studio, Tomoko Azumi T.N.A. Design studio.
