Sami Kallio

Sami Juhani Kallio was born in 1975 in Helsinki and studied design at HDK Göteborg from 2000 to 2005. Based in Gothenburg Sami Juhani Kallio has realised numerous interior design projects and designed lighting fixtures and furniture for the Danish design label &Tradition, teaches at his alma mater, the HDK Gothenburg and exhibits globally, including at events such as Salone Satellite Milan, Stockholm Furniture Fair, or the International Craft Biennial in Cheongju, South Korea. Despite his relative youth numerous of his furniture designs - perhaps most notably his In Between Chair - are already considered future classics. Sami Kallio describes his vision as follows: "I'm fascinated by a product's form and presence in the room. How are the gaps perceived in the design? It's all about balance, distance, and proportion." Looking at his In Between series for &Tradition one understands what he means.
