Povl Bjerregaard Eskildsen was born in Denmark in 1954 into an established furniture production family, a background that brought him the necessary understanding of materials and their processing. In 1986, he graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture and started his own studio. His graduation project, a teak chair for a concert hall, was immediately produced in series. Today, Povl B. Eskildsen works as a freelance designer from his studio in Aarhus and not only sketches his designs, but also builds the prototypes himself, in order to prevent problems in later serial production. Eskildsen is known among other things for his collaboration with the Danish manufacturer Skagerak, for whom he created high-quality and functional teak outdoor furniture such as the Riviera Lounge. In the course of his career Povl B. Eskildsen, who has always remained true to his roots, has received a numerous awards.
