Parkhaus Berlin: Felt seat pads for the crème de la crème of design classics
Anja Witte-krieger and Anne Karp have developed a unique business idea based on their shared passion for wool felt.:The designers at Parkhaus Berlin have specialized in the production of seat pads, but not any seat pads rather the Parkhaus Berlin seat pads are tailor-made seat cushions for design classics such as the Vitra Eames Plastic Side Chairs or the The Ant Chair by Arne Jacobsen.
The Parkhaus Berlin seat pads are made from sustainable and long-lasting felt in small workshops, including a workshop for disabled people in Germany.
Of which material are Parkhaus Berlin seat pads crafted?
Parkhaus Berlin makes their seat covers and seat cushions from pure felt, made from 100 percent virgin wool from Australia and New Zealand. The natural material properties of the felt determine the quality of the seat pads: in more than 30 colours, the Parkhaus Berlin seat covers and seat cushions are not only decorative and beautiful, but also durable, robust and warm. The felt is also breathable, dirt-repellent and absorbs odours and vibrations. All Parkhaus seat covers and cushions have an anti-slip coating on the underside for optimal grip. They also offer ideal protection against wear and tear, which is particularly advantageous for antique designer chairs.
In addition to the seat pads made of pure wool felt, Parkhaus also produces seat covers made of leather, which are available with an underside made of wool felt and in five colours. The cowhide comes from Italy.
Which chair models and manufacturers do the felt pads fit with?
The seat covers and seat cushions from Parkhaus Berlin are tailored to all well-known designer chairs. These include chairs from renowned designer furniture manufacturers such as Vitra, Artek, Thonet and Fritz Hansen.
For example, Vitra seat cushions and cushions from Parkhaus are very popular and go well with numerous design classics such as the Panton Chair, but also with contemporary Vitra chairs such as the HAL Chairs.
Design classics such as the Thonet cantilever chair S 43 or the Series 7 chair by Fritz Hansen can also be provided with a matching felt cover from Parkhaus.
Parkhaus Berlin has even developed a suitable cushion for USM Haller: The Parkhaus Berlin felt cushions for USM Haller shelving bequeath the USM Haller furniture a homely feel and ensure a non-slip seating and a protected furniture surface.
Why "Parkhaus Berlin"?
For the founders of the felt pad brand Parkhaus, based in Berlin, the term 'Parkhaus' primarily refers to the different levels that are located in a parking garage: each floor represents different worlds of experience, based on product families, materials and levels of association that are linked to the overall collection.
