Muuto Linear Wood Table
The Danish furniture manufacturer Muuto was founded in Copenhagen by Peter Bonnén and Kristian Byrge and enjoys an established reputation in the design world. The name Muuto derives from the Finnish term "muutos", which translates to "new perspective" and underlines the philosophy of the company to design and view everyday objects in a whole new way. Here, the Danish manufacturer preferentially cooperates with young designers from Scandinavia, who give the reduced, soft coloured designed Muuto designer furniture, lighting, and home accessories an innovative, fresh look. While, for example, the Reflect Sideboard combines the fifties mid-century modernism with the reduced, Danish style, the E27 Pendant Lamp is all about modern industrial design. Which aspect could be more important for the sustainability claims of a furniture manufacturer than long-lasting products? With a clear commitment to the Scandinavian design tradition, Muuto relies on refined, functional design and innovative materials and processing techniques to enable its furniture to outlive fast-moving trends and can be passed on from one generation to the next. All Muuto furniture is subjected to strict tests during and after production, which certify its high quality and resilience.

Which material is suitable for the respective design and what impact will it have on health and the environment? These questions are an integral part of product development at Muuto. And that not only in terms of the individual components of the furniture, but also paints and packaging.
Accordingly, Muuto only processes FSC-certified wood, uses water-based paints in more than 80 percent of cases and uses recycled materials for products and packaging.
In addition much of the furniture is strictly tested for so-called VOCs: volatile organic compounds that can be harmful to health.
All Muuto locations have been converted to 100 percent renewable energies, which will sustainably reduce the company's CO2 footprint. In addition, Muuto has set up a system with which all harmful emissions and waste can be measured and reduced. All suppliers are obliged to agree to a code of conduct that defines ethical principles and guarantees compliance with international human rights.
Numerous aspects of sustainability at Muuto are checked by independent institutes and guaranteed as sustainable with certificates. This includes various certificates and labels for individual materials and techniques. Three of the most important are the globally valid FSC certificate for wood; the so-called Declare Label, which makes the origin, nature and recyclability of materials transparent; and the Global GreenTag label, which verifies the sustainability of products under a wide range of parameters.
