Designed in 1933 by the Thonet Design Team the B 97 Glass nesting tables stand in the tradition of Bauhaus tables, and for all in the tradition of Marcel Breuer, who a few years earlier with the B 9 nesting tables had made tubular furniture salon fit. Unlike Breuer's tables however the Thonet tables are open on one side and thus mimic formally the frame of cantilever chairs, a genre in whose development Marcel Breuer was also closely involved. The innovation of the nesting tables B 97 Glass is further expressed by the glass table top. Whether used as a bedside table, in the hallway or as a reduced coffee table in the living room, the Thonet Set B 97 Glass with his functionalist purism always cuts a good figure. With a dedicated team of designers, engineers and craftsmen Thonet develop from their base based in Frankenberg, Germany contemporary and timeless products which distinguish themselves through the excellent craftsmanship and resource-saving production technologies.
