Johan Van Hengel

Dutch designer Johan Van Hengel founded his own studio in Rotterdam in 2013, and from where de develops furniture, lighting and home accessories for well-known brands such as Muuto. The focus of Johan Van Hengel's work is his interest in imparting sophistication and individuality to everyday objects and thus giving everyday forms and objects more meaning. His designs are based on the Scandinavian design philosophy, which is about creating useful products for everyday life with timeless aesthetics. For the Danish design label Muuto, Van Hengel created the Folded Shelves: contemporary Muuto wall shelves that are suitable both as a practical organizer next to a desk and as a functional storage space for keys and other small items.
