Jochen Gros

Jochen Gros

Born in 1944 Jochen Gros has developed, among other things, the simple wall clock Alu Alu by manufacturer Richard Lampert. However, his work as a design theorist predominates over that of the product designer. Gros began studying mechanical engineering and psychology, graduated however with a degree product design from the Braunschweig Academy of Fine Arts. After a trend research project in the design department of Siemens, Gros assumed a professorship for design theory at the HfG Offenbach am Main before becoming active in exhibitions, lectures and also TV production. Since the end of the 1990s, Jochen Gros has conducted various research projects and coined the concept of extended functionalism as well as a theory of product language.
