Joan Gaspar

Born in Barcelona in 1966, Joan Gaspar has remained faithful to his Catalan home: he studied in Barcelona and worked with Lluis Porques who ran a small lighting workshop in Pablo Nou during the 1980s. This district of Barcelona was home to a lively, thriving industry with small and large factories, workshops and shops, and was to become a hub of design in Barcelona until the 1990s. After cooperating with numerous companies, Joan Gaspar began a close collaboration with the lighting manufacturer Marset in 1996. Today Joan Gaspar is not only a very successful product designer and has his own design studio, but since 2002 also teaches at the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona.
