Pioneers of Danish design art

Classic Danish design

One of Hvidt & Mølgaard's most famous furniture designs is the AX chair from 1947, which was produced by Fritz Hansen. Today the manufacturer &Tradition have re-issued classics such as the Boomerang lounge chair, the avant-garde Drop Leaf dining table and the minimalist Tripod floor lamp.

Up until the 1970s, Hvidt & Mølgaard increasingly realized architectural projects, including office buildings, factories, private homes and were consulted on bridge projects. In 1975 Peter Hvidt finally retired and Hans Kristensen became a new partner in the company, so that from 1983 Hvidt & Mølgaard was run by Hans Kristensen, Peter Holsøe and Peter Hvidt's son, Henrik Hvidt. Other international architectural projects followed. In 2009, the Copenhagen studio finally split, resulting in the architecture offices Hvidt Architects and Holsøe Architects.
