Designer / Manufacturer
In the case of the Louis Poulsen Toldbod 120, designer and manufacturer are the same: the design coming from the nimble pens of the Louis Poulsen design team. Thus the cone shaped pendant light is based in the almost 100 years of expertise of the Danish manufacturer. Established in Copenhagen in 1874 as the wine import company "Kjøbenhavns direct Vin Import Kompagni" the contemporary Louis Poulsen began with the production of lamps in 1924 - following a fateful meeting between the then company director and the architect and designer Poul Henningsen. The philosophy of the Louis Poulsen company is and was to create products that are simple and functional and which serve the well-being of people. In this context the company has developed an extensive portfolio ranging from the classics such as the PH Henningsen lamps or works by Arne Jacobsen and onto contemporary works such as the LC Shutters by Louise Campbell
Production
The Danish lamp manufacturer Louis Poulsen produces the screen of the Toldbod 120 pendant lamp from die-cast aluminium which is subsequently coated with a satin textured finish. The reflector is made of extruded, anodized aluminium. As with the other lights of Toldbod series the lamp utilises the reflection principle to establish a glare-free , vertical illumination. The cable of 0.5 kg lamp is 2.6 m in length; a rose is supplied as standard. As with all Louis Poulsen products the Toldbod 120 presents the high quality and lasting durability of the modern Danish production. The simple and unobtrusive design ensures compatibility with old and new architecture as well as long-term use - sustainability in its finest sense.
