Designed by Pietro Ferruccio Laviani for the Italian manufacturer Kartell, the Bourgie table lamp is a fusion of grand design and innovative technology, whose name combines two French words: bourgeois = bourgeois, belonging to the bourgeoisie and bougie = candle. Made of polycarbonate, a plastic that is particularly used for its strength, the Kartell lamp impresses with its stability and, thanks to its transparency, is also easy to handle. The metallized versions also set modern accents in the best Kartell style. The foot of the lamp Bourgie consists of three ornate elements, which form a cross, the lampshade is pleated on the inside and thus creating a unique lighting reflex. The deliberately pompous baroque style of the Kartell Bourgie table lamp is supported by the material and the special manufacturing technology, which make the table light an interesting design object. Bourgie celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014, prompting Kartell to ask 14 designers for a re-design. Kartell focuses on the production of individual plastic mouldings and can look back on a long and successful company history.
