Design Story
The beanbag Sacco was designed by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini and Franco Teodoro and belongs to the product range of Italian furniture manufacturer Zanotta. The unconventional seat is covered in the textile Volo - a hard wearing mix of 48% polyurethane, 31% cotton and 21% polycarbonate - and is filled with polystyrene beads. The idea for the special filling came to the designers only indirectly. Initially they planned to fill an outer shell with water, this proving too heavy they switched to ping pong balls, and then by a process of further experimentation the enduringly popular Zanotta beanbag was born. The beanbag Sacco adapts to its users, thus allowing for an especially satisfying seating comfort: whether as a seat in the reading area, porch or nursery, Sacco provides a cozy environment and a stylish, modern atmosphere.
