The Italian lighting manufacturer Flos was founded in 1962 by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina, and who were quickly joined on the management team by the designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Tobia Scarpa and Sergio Gadini. In 1964 the company headquarters relocated from Meran to the Milan suburbs and in 1971 Flos opened its first international branch in Germany. Today contemporary design classics such as the Flos arc lamp Arco by the Castiglioni brothers, the Glo-Ball collection by Jasper Morrison or the popular Flos IC lights by Michael Anastassiades are part of the company's extensive product portfolio. Flos is particularly active in the contract sector and has long been an important stimulus in architectural lighting, and in which context the company, its designers and engineers have developed a wide variety of lighting solutions. Together with established designers and young talents, Flos focuses on innovative technologies that reflect the zeitgeist. Flos's emotional light objects can provoke, but always do so with a touch of poetry. With its lighting collections Flos manages an elegant balancing act between art and design, industry and craft, limited edition and series production.
