Design Story
Designed by Harry Bertoia in the early 1950s exclusively for the legendary American furniture manufacturer Knoll International, the Bertoia chair is part of a series of seating furniture made of filigree steel wire that today has cult status and is one of the most legendary design classics of post-war American modernism.
What makes the Bertoia chair so special is the artistic signature of the sculptor Bertoia, who specialized in metal sculptures, which is combined here with a functional design. Fragility and lightness combined with the strong presence of the material ensure the unmistakable elegance of the Bertoia chair, which can be used in the most varied of environments.
The Bertoia chair is made of hand-drawn and hand-welded steel wire and is available in diverse versions, also with seat upholstery.
