Kasper Salto

Born in 1967, Kasper Salto is considered one of the leading protagonists of contemporary Danish furniture design. After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he studied industrial design at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen and subsequently worked in the studio of Rud Thygesen, where he was later to meet Peter Staerk. The Runner Chair marks the beginning of a long series of award-winning chairs from Salto's feather. In 1998 he founded his own office and from where he has produced objects such as the ICE collection or the Nap chair for Fritz Hansen. Kasper's inspiration is largely drawn from the Danish design tradition and modern industrial design: for him, the combination of aesthetically pleasing and at the same time functional forms stands in the foreground. In 2004, he founded the design company Salto & Sigsgaard with architect Thomas Sigsgaard.
