Eames Soft Pad Chairs from Vitra
Eames Soft Pad Chairs
The Eames Soft Pad Chairs from Vitra date back to 1969 and are part of the extensive portfolio of Charles and Ray Eames, who decisively influenced the history of design with their innovative designs. Formally the luxurious office chairs are similar to the well-known Eames Aluminum Chairs, but are distinguished by the generous upholstery, which creates an exciting contrast with the slim aluminium profile of the Vitra swivel chairs. The basis of the Vitra Soft Pad Chairs are two aluminium frames as well as the side profiles and the base frame. Unlike the Vitra Alu Chairs, the Soft Pad Chairs are not just covered in fabric or leather, but feature high-quality voluminous upholstery stitched onto the exposed construction. Despite their opulent appearance, the Eames office chairs do not seem overloaded, but skilfully cite the minimalist character of the Eames Alu Chairs. In addition to classic office models, the Vitra Soft Pad Chair is also available as a lounge version.
The models of the Soft Pad Group
While some models of the Eames Soft Pad Group embody the classic office chair with rollers, other versions with four-star base are ideal for the home office or conference room. The height of the backrest also differs with the individual Vitra chairs, and you can also choose from a wide range of fabric and leather colours. In addition, models like the Soft Pad Chair EA 222 can be used as an elegant lounge chair also ideal in the living area. A special feature of the product family is the Vitra Lounger Soft Pad Chaise ES 106, which Charles and Ray Eames once designed on behalf of director Billy Wilder, who wanted a piece of furniture for short pauses in filming.
