On the occasion of Hans J. Wegner's 100th birthday Carl Hansen & Son released the CH88 from 1955, a chair that previously had only existed as a prototype: and a light-looking chair which perfectly combines natural forms with technical precision. The characteristic backrest made of steam-bent wood not only supports the back, but also offers through the slightly curved shape a natural armrest. The oval-shaped seat shell is placed on a steel frame with straight legs. A minimalist design available in many different versions make the CH88 suitable for numerous rooms and uses.

The oils and soaps for the treatment of the wood as well as, for example, the paper cord used for the CH24 are also sourced following strict ecological criteria.
