5 New Architecture & Design Exhibitions for February 2024

For all that as a species we like to think that we are in control of the wider universe, like to think that our mastery of physics and mathematics has put us in charge, little underscores the fallacy of that position as neatly as the Gregorian calendar, an apparently flawless invention, one that defines our lives, where everything sits so snugly.... until every four years we have to add an extra day to stop it all going haywire. Unless that is the year is exactly divisible by 100, but not by

5 New Architecture & Design Exhibitions for November 2023

Back in the spring Haitian musician Wyclef Jean informed us all he'd be "Gone Till November". And so he should be back any day now; and given how busy he's invariably been all summer, earning as he has been enough money to buy out blocks, he's probably not had a chance to visit an architecture or design museum. smow blog compact Milan 2015 special: Duple by Alexander Åsgård

Privately and professionally we have long complained about, and been deeply saddened by, the lack of side/coffee tables with a shelf to be found in the contemporary furniture market. We know it's a first world problem, we know we should concentrate on other, genuinely important, things, but..... Back in the day all side/coffee tables had a shelf. And today......? Today the smow blog living room is scattered with magazines, brochures, music scores and catalogues we simply do not know where or

Much as the hardest move in yoga is unrolling your yoga mat, so to is the most challenging facet about most design and architecture exhibitions actually getting round to visiting them. Especially when it involves going out into February's cold air. The following five however seem well worth the effort. If unrolling your yoga mat is worth the effort is of course another question. And not one we have any intention of ever trying to find an answer to.................... Architecture of
