Parallel to Berlin Design Week 2014 the Universität der Künste, UdK, platform designtransfer is presenting an exhibition highlighting a selection of student works from across the disciplines of industrial design, fashion and “Communication in Social and Economic Contexts”
Featuring a bright spectrum of projects ranging from the theoretical to the painfully practical and which on occasion bend the border between art and design a little more than is helpful, “wild, connected, printed & additional THINGS” is a typical student showcase. And as such an excellent hunting ground for all looking to discover the essence of the creative process. Or just wanting to understand what design students actually do all day. When not drinking Club Mate.
As ever we know such shows aren’t beauty pageants and that everyone should and will take with them that which appeals to their own character and sensibilities; however, we were especially taken with the results of the projects from the industrial design class “Connect” for all Key by Maria Neumann & Jakob Ruhe, drops2 by Florian Schreiner & May Kukula and Hanger by Hannes von Wild & Uli Feuersänger, and that despite our famous mistrust of readymades.
Wild, connected, printed & additional THINGS can be viewed at Universität der Künste designtransfer, Einsteinufer 43, 10587 Berlin-Charlottenburg until Sunday July 20th
A few impressions.
