SOX is, in all probability, Berlin’s smallest gallery.
SOX is a circa 2m by 3m window.
An oversized display cabinet in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg.
During Berlin Design Week 2014 SOX is hosting 4+1, the latest project from Berlin designer Mark Braun.
A shelving/storage element constructed from pear, oak, ash and walnut the individual 4+1 units are accessible from both front and back and can be stacked on top of/next to one another to create the desired landscape. Each unit houses an internal “divider” – the +1 – that not only adds an interesting visual element to the composition but which also creates a brief, informal, internal wall. Used as a classic shelving system the internal wall gives you a bit of “private” space to hide things from general view; alternatively, the internal wall allows 4+1 to be used as a functional, aesthetically pleasing room divider in either a domestic or commercial setting.
In addition to 4+1 Mark Braun is also using Berlin Design Week 2014 to launch the gin + tonic beaker he developed for Black Forest quality gin producer Monkey47.
Beaker. Not glass. Crafted as they are from clay. Not glass.
The launch of the Monkey47 beaker takes place on the evening of Thursday May 29th, and, naturally, includes a chance to sample Monkey47.
4+1 by Mark Braun can be viewed 24/7 at SOX, Oranienstr. 175, 10999 Berlin until Sunday June 8th.
The launch of the Monkey47 beaker takes place on Thursday May 29th from 7 – 10 pm.
