With our recent design hotels post still simmering on the back-burner of critical acclaim the first photos reach of us perennial (smow)blog favourites Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's design for the new restaurant at the Casa Camper Hotel in Berlin.
The Boys from the Bretagne took their inspiration from the desire to celebrate the work of Head Chef Albert Rauric, the former Chef du Cuisine at elBulli and founding Head Chef at Dos Palillos, Barcelona
To this end the restaurant features one table, a very long table: On one side sit the 30 guests on the other stand the 10 chefs. The effect of a performance is completed by the large window which allows all passers-by to enjoy the guests enjoying watching the Catalan and his henchmen enjoy working.
Dos Palillos is certainly not a location for enjoying a discrete private rendezvous with that sweet little something your not suppose to enjoying discrete private rendezvous with, nor the ideal location for quietly planning an act of industrial espionage; however, those looking to enjoy modern Asian interpretations of traditional Spanish cuisine in an informal atmosphere will be well catered for.
This formal/informal atmosphere is nicely complimented by the stainless steel kitchen, the light wood table and the white Steelwood Chairs from Magis, designed of course by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Dos Palillos is due to open in January 2010. In comparison to the hotel's other restaurant, Tentempié, however, Casa Camper guests have to pay for the food at Dos Palillos.
