Arno Votteler
Arno Votteler is a German industrial designer and interior architect and whose work crosses a wide range of fields and includes numerous collaborations. In the context of his furniture design, his collaboration with Walter Knoll is particularly noteworthy. Beginning in 1952 Arno Votteler not only developed numerous seating projects for Walter Knoll, but also oversaw the complete production process - from prototypes to final production. Walter Knoll's Votteler armchair, with its clean lines and extraordinary material mix, stands as a particularly good testimony to his work from this period. Following his time at Walter Knoll, Votteler worked for a wide variety of manufacturers - also on an international level and taught at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart from 1976 to 1994 where he founded the present Weißenhof Institute - a renowned institute for furniture design and interior architecture.
