Design Story

The Vitra Toolbox, by Arik Levy features different sized compartments and is a practical organizational aid for any situation. Whether intended for storing tools, kitchen utensils or stationery items, made of ABS plastic the Vitra Toolbox is a useful storage element. The Vitra Toolbox is available in various attractive colours and acts as a stylish assistant in the living area or in the workplace. Furthermore, the Toolbox is equipped with a handle and can so easily be carried. Since 1957 Vitra has worked with international designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson and has thus developed over the years a varied and extensive portfolio of furniture design concepts.

The Vitra Toolbox RE: Sustainable Organisation Crafted from Recycled Materials

The Vitra Toolbox is now manufactured in a sustainable version: the Toolbox RE. This version is made entirely from recycled plastic sourced from German household waste and collected through the dual system ("Yellow Bag"). The high-quality recycled material bequeathes the toolbox a distinctive, characteristic surface finish thanks to its fine pigment speckles.

With this material change Vitra not only reduces its primary energy consumption but also significantly lowers CO₂ emissions. The Toolbox RE is also fully recyclable – an important step toward a circular economy and a responsible design approach.
